| Completely by hand, detailed figural and floral designs are darned over hand knotted Lacis on these magnificent panels. So rare to find such a pair with similar but different likeness,and in such wonderful condition! I haven't determined the story here, but I'm sure there is one! I'll try not to elaborate on all the design, as you can hopefully see for yourself the cherubim, figures carrying ,dripping floral filled urns,laurel wreaths, arabesques, and more. (Did you hear me just sigh?) There is metallic braid with small loops,faded with age, attached at the top for hanging. There is a 1" border of crosses across the top and down each side ending at the scalloped bottom with 3 roses alternating with 4 images topped with crowns. all this ending with 5" hand knotted fringe. It's made completely of linen which looks to be hand spun. They are clean, very sturdy with very few breaks in the threads and apparently have been starched. There is one brownish stain on a leg, which doesn't detract at all. 96" X 20", the central figures are 22" tall. Feel free to make any inquiries! | ||
