Japanese woodblock print depicting an actor portraying a seated samurai. The image is signed at the left side "Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga" (1797-1861). The red Yoshi Kiri seal is beneath the signature. The print was published by Ibaya Senzaburo between 1847-1848. The paper measures 14 1/2"V x 9 7/8"H. It is most likely a panel from a triptych. Very good overall condition with excellent color. Published by Joshuya Kinzo prior to 1842. Each panel bears the signature "Gototei Kunisada ga", a publisher's seal, and the kiwame censor's seal used from 1790-1842 (see enlargement 5). Chinese Song dynasty qingbai (yingqing) porcelain cylindrical model of a granary, or grain silo (cang), with a high foot and pyramidal cover. The pale blue-green finely crackled translucent glaze extends over the body and lid and pools into areas in the cover intended to resemble tiles. The underside of the cover, base, and interior are unglazed and burnt orange. Granaries were funerary objects used to hold grain and other possessions for the deceased. Very large Chinese folk art bamboo basket with a removable inner shelf. The "double happiness" symbols on the side indicate it might have been intended as a wedding basket. Dates circa 1900. 28"H x 19" diameter (23" across the handle). Very good overall condition with some loosening of the bamboo at the bottom.

Pair of 30" high Japanese Meiji period bronze candle stands ("shokudai"), each with a hexagonal shaft supported by a 12" diameter circular base with a chrysanthemum accent at the center.
