Set of three concentric stacking Japanese sakazuki (sake cups) for the marriage ceremony. Each sake cup is finely decorated in raised gold (takamakie) with a central 16-petal chrysanthemum (Imperial symbol) set against a red lacquered wood background. The sizes in diameter are 5 7/8", 5 ¼”, and 4 3/8”. Estimated to date from the late Meiji to Taisho period (circa 1900 to 1925). The three sake cups are in very good condition.
