11 1/2"H, solidly potted 18th century Chinese monochrome vase covered on the exterior in a brown stained crackled apple green glaze and on the interior and recessed base with a pale green brown stained crackled glaze. Large Qing dynasty (19th century) Chinese lidded ginger jar decorated in cobalt blue with "double shou" symbols (indicating double-happiness and wedded bliss) on the front and back surrounded by a stylized pattern of scrolling sweet pea vines set against a bluish-white porcelain background. Nicely carved wooden lid. These jars were often given as wedding gifts. The jar measures about 8 1/2"H (9 1/2"H including lid). Very good overall condition.

SOLD 

19th century Chinese blue and white porcelain jar finely decorated with three different reserves of "one hundred antiques" set against a "bingmei" ground. 8 1/4"H (excluding the wood cover and stand) x 7 3/4" diameter. There are some old fine hairline cracks. The wood cover is repaired. This piece was inherited by a Tucson woman from her father. He was a collector in Los Angeles and purchased his pieces primarily from antique dealers in California in the 1950's.

Large Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD) "hu" form earthenware jar with a flaring mouth embellished with a wide raised collar. The painted decoration on this type of jar was designed to imitate the inlaid decoration on Chinese bronze vases. Dates circa 1st century B.C. Measures about 12 3/4"H x 10" diameter. Pair of 19th century Qing Chinese porcelain ginger jars decorated with a lattice pattern green glaze. A color illustration of this type of decoration can be found on pg. 86, Fig. 49.1 of "Allen's Authentication of Later Chinese Porcelain" by Anthony J. Large Chinese green crackle glazed tripod scholar's "bitong" (brush pot). 18th to early 19th century. 4 5/8"H x 5 7/8" diameter. Very good overall condition. Some natural old staining to the crackle glaze. There is a pinhead sized imperfection in the glaze toward the lower edge (possibly a burst bubble or tiny chip) and a few other tiny imperfections in the glaze which can be felt with the fingernail. Large Chinese Jin Dynasty (1125-1234 AD) Honan brown glazed truncated meiping vase decorated with cut glaze concentric circular designs on the shoulders. Two strap handles flank both sides of the short neck. 11"H x 11 1/2" diameter. Very good overall condition. There are a few scattered small pit holes, which are original production imperfections (see enlargement 3). Some scratches in the glaze are evident as is typical for a piece of this age.

Kangxi Period (1662-1722) Chinese blue and white porcelain export covered jar decorated on one side with the "one hundred antiques" motif and on the opposite side with figures in a landscape. Auspicious symbols decorate the lid. The 4-character hallmark on the base appears to translate "record of beauty, benevolence and profit." 8 1/2"H and diameter. Finial replaced. Numerous old chips to the cover and base.
