Vintage 62-drawer Korean elm wood apothecary (medicine) chest, or Yak Jang. Three large drawers extend across the top, 35 drawers are along the bottom section, and the upper section has two doors, decorated with brass hardware, which lock with an original brass fish form lock to protect 24 interior drawers. Each drawer has a brass pull and is carved with ideographs corresponding to a particular herbal remedy. The door fronts and sides are accented by tightly woven reed.
