| Japanese cloisonne covered vase on an earthenware substrate with "kidney bean" cloisons, most likely from the Kinkozan Satsuma kiln in Kyoto. The body of the vase is decorated with flowers, butterflies, and symbols set against a blue background. A brown band encircles the upper shoulder while green bands extend around the neck and base. There is an unidentified impressed seal on the foot rim. Meiji period (circa 1870s). Stands 8 ¼” high. Very good overall condition. There is a very small, faint old hairline on the rim and normal pitting consistent with the process. | |||||||||||
