| Pair of Chinese late Qing dynasty porcelain ginger jars with domed lids and wood stands, each decorated with white branches of prunus blossoms against a cobalt ground in the Hawthorn pattern, a style very much in vogue in the Kangxi period. Each base holds two underglaze blue concentric circles. One mouth rim is glazed while the second is unglazed. The jars measure about 7 ½”H (9”H on the stand) x 6” across and date circa 1900 (Guangxu period). Very good overall condition. There is a very small, barely visible glaze loss on the mouth rim of one jar which could be a burst bubble or production flaw (see enlargement 12). This pair is from a Green Valley, Arizona collection. | |||||||||||||||
