Chinese Qing Export Porcelain Reticulated Monochrome Chestnut Bowl
Chinese Qing dynasty oval form reticulated export porcelain deep chestnut basket and matching tray, or underplate, covered in a creamy white glaze with a gray tint. The bases are glazed but the foot rim of each piece is unglazed. These pierced baskets are typically found in Canton, Nanking, Fitzhugh, or Rose Medallion patterns. It is unusual to find a monochrome example. Mid-19th century. Bowl: 9 3/4L x 8 3/8W x 3 H; Plate: 9 7/8L x 8 5/8W x 1 H. Very good overall condition with no chips or cracks. Examples of these pierced export chestnut baskets can be found on pages 132-135 of the Schiffer publication Chinese Export Porcelain. This vase is from the private collection of a former American resident in Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
