Chinese Qing Guangxu Cizhou Stoneware Pillow Boy Child
Ming dynasty style creamy white slip glazed Cizhou-type stoneware pillow moulded in the form of a small boy crouching on unglazed knees and elbows with head upright, arms folded, and feet slightly raised. Chocolate brown slip glazed accents highlight his collar, tufts of hair, wrist band, and facial features. There is a small vent hole in his backside. Old browned crazing is evident, particularly on the bottom of the legs. Guangxu period (circa 1900). 12 ¼” long x 7 ½” high x 5” wide. Very good overall condition. This piece is from the private collection of a former American diplomat to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
