Chinese Qing Qianlong Blue & White Porcelain Tea Caddy Canister
Chinese Qing dynasty Qianlong period narrow hexagonal form tea jar decorated on the sides in underglaze blue with a pattern of flowers, fruit, birds, butterflies, bats, and scrolling foliage. The flat shoulders are decorated with four bats and two butterflies separated by cloud patterns. The exterior of the high mouth and tip of the raised foot rim are unglazed. 18th century. 7 3/8 high x 5 3/4 wide x 3 deep. Very good overall condition. There is an original firing split in the mouth, a tiny chip on one corner of the shoulder rim, and a burst bubble or chip on another corner of the shoulder rim. As is common with these early tea caddies, the original lid is missing. This tea caddy is from the private collection of a former American resident in Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
