| Japanese woodblock print depicting a woman kneeling on a straw mat, with a baby on her back, beating newly woven cloth on a fulling-block by the banks of the Toi Crystal River. The image is signed at the right side "Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga" (1797-1861). The red Yoshi Kiri seal is beneath the signature. The print was published by Sanoya Kihei between 1847-1848. Vertical oban size (14 1/2"V x 9 3/4"H). Center panel from a triptych which is illustrated in color on plate G401 of "The Baur Collection, Japanese Prints Volume II" by Matthi Forrer, Rijksmuseum. Very good overall condition with some fading evident. | ||||||||
