| Early 19th century Chinese Canton export tea pot decorated in underglaze blue with a continuous landscape featuring the traditional exotic houses, mountains, sailboats and a bridge set against a white porcelain ground. The delicate lid has a berry shaped finial. The cylindrical form pot has an appliquéd double strap handle. Very good overall condition with a small quite unnoticeable old restored chip to the front tip of the spout and a small flake to the underside of the lid (see enlargements 9 and 10). Measures about 5 ½”H x 8" across from the handle to the tip of the spout. An example of this style of tea pot can be found on page 190 (plate 511) of "Chinese Export Porcelain" by Herbert, Peter and Nancy Schiffer. | |||||||||||||
