Chinese Qing Daoist Wood Figure Household Altar Diety God
Daoist wood sculpture well carved from a single piece of wood in the form of a household protective diety wearing textured robes and seated on a horseshoe armed throne. Very good overall condition. Although the pigment shows evidence of fading, the color is still quite vibrant. There are some typical pigment losses and possibly some old retouching to the color in spots. There is one crack in the wood at the bottom at the center front but no dry rot or bug damage is evident. Late Qing (circa 1900). 9 H x 4 W x 3 D. This piece is from the private collection of American expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s.
