Chinese Song Dynasty Qingbai Yingqing Porcelain Granary
Chinese Song dynasty qingbai (yingqing) porcelain cylindrical model of a granary, or grain silo (cang), with a high foot and pyramidal cover. The pale blue-green finely crackled translucent glaze extends over the body and lid and pools into areas in the cover intended to resemble tiles. The underside of the cover, base, and interior are unglazed and burnt orange. Granaries were funerary objects used to hold grain and other possessions for the deceased. Circa 13th century. 6 1/8” high x 4 1/8” diameter (lid). Very good overall condition. From the private collection of a former American expatriate to Guangzhou in 1983-1984.
