Chinese Qing Brass Paktong Incised Tobacco Carrier
Chinese Qing dynasty folk art tobacco container designed to hang from a belt. The carrier is crafted of light colored brass which might be paktong ("white brass"). One side is faintly decorated with an incised figural design while the reverse side holds a calligraphic inscription. A removable cover opens to reveal a hollow interior. Late 19th to early 20th century. 3 1/4"L x 1 7/8"W x 1 1/4"D. Very good overall condition with original patina. This piece is from the private collection of American expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s.
