Pair of 6.5" Dia. Japanese Meiji Imari Porcelain Dishes
$75 Pair

Two Japanese Imari porcelain octagonal form dishes measuring about 6 1/2"L x 5 1/2W x 1 1/2"H. Each dish is decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze polychrome pigments with gilt highlights and features a central medallion with a bird flying above a landscape. The interior border consists of eight alternating geometric and floral panels. The exterior circumference is decorated with an underglaze blue karakusa motif. The dishes appear to date from the late Meiji to Taisho period (circa 1910-1920). Very good overall condition with typical rubbing of the gilt and overglaze pigments. There is some enamel loss in the foreground area of the central scene (see enlargement 6). These dishes are from a Santa Fe collection.
