Watercolour on ivory. Portrait of a gentleman wearing a dark coat over a white shirt, stock, and cravat. Blue background. Fancy hair back with the initials, "J C". Oval, 7 cms. X 5.5 cms. (2 3/4 inches X 2 1/2 inches). Miniature is in excellent condition. This is another case in which it appears the miniature has spent many years hidden away in a drawer, safe from dust and light.

Samuel Cotes (British, 1734 - 1818). Watercolour on ivory. Outstanding portrait miniature of a gentleman, said to be Mr. Tucker. The portrait depicts a gentleman wearing a powdered wig, a bright turguoise coat and white whirt with lace jabot. Initialled and dated, "SC/1771" to obverse. Gold bracelet setting. Oval, 4.5 cs. X 4 cms. (1 3/4 inches X 1 1/2 inches). Fabulous detail and condition.
