The watercolour on ivory portrait depicts the young man, with powdered natural hair and brown eyes, in 3/4 pose, facing slightly to the right, wearing a dark jacket, with white waistcoat and cravat. The water color on ivory, 1/2 length portrait depicts a lovely little boy with long dark curls and large brown eyes, wearing a dark blue suit with wide lapels and brass buttons, and a white shirt with large frilled collar beneath.
