French School, c. 1820. Watercolour on ivory portrait of a young woman with dark hair and eyes, wearting a ruset coloured gown with white lace collar and matching cap. She wears coral drop-earrings, double bracelet, and necklace, as well as a long chain with watch, (the face of the watch tells the time to be 1:30). Her right hand, with two rings, holds a book. Portrait of a gentleman, c. 1730. The portrait depicts the powdered and bewigged gentleman, wearing a yellow embroidered waist coat, and white stock, under a brown coat. Portrait set in 9K gold case, surrounded by foil-backed paste stones. Glazed reverse set with cream fabric. Oval, 6 cms. X 4 cms. (2 ¼ inches x 1 7/8 inches).
