Watercolour on ivory. Portrait of a woman with dark hair wearing a blue gown with matching hair ribbons, a five strand pearl choker and pearl earrings, and pink posey to decollate. Oval, 3.7 cms. X 3 cms. (i 1/2 inches X 1 1/4 inches). Gold frame with brooch mount. Lovely and unusual glazed needlework of a tree to reverse.

Watercolour on ivory. Portrait miniature of a young woman in a white neo-classical gown, her hair fashioned in Napoleonic-era curles. Signed to obverse, "Truchet". Hallmarked French silver frame with rose surmount. Onyx back with pietra dura floral motif to center. Oval, 8 cms. X 6 cms. (3 inches X 2 1/2 inches). I cannot overemphasize how lovely this portrait miniature is. The condition is exquisite.

The condition or these two miniatures is superb.
Portrait miniatures by Bougeois are represented in the collection of the Louvre. Bougeois is considered to be one of the best French miniaturists of all time.
