Multiple stands of tiny seed beads were commonly worn in Nepal until recently. Now they are found only in more remote areas or among older women. These blue glass beads were obviously inspired by turquoise and were an early trade item. Including the braided ends this "mala" is 37 inches long and is made up of fourteen strands of beads. |
