Just released from my personal collection is this fantastic set of three pieces that date circa ancient China's Western Zhou period; a decorated bronze dagger axe with and accompanying horse bridle fitting decorated with coiled snakes, and a bird finial. All three pieces were purportedly uncovered together. The bridle fitting was partially cleaned to reveal the magnificent coiled snake decor. This is an ancient Chinese bronze piece called a zhun. It was designed to be put on the bottom end of a pole mounted weapon. This particular piece is from the famed Arthur M Sackler collection and was purchased through Christies in New York. Their tag will stay with the piece. There are stylized animal motifs on the body and the overall style and type are characteristic of weapons used in the Warring States period (ca 400 BCE). The piece is solid and stable with no signs of repair or restoration ...click for details

This is a red pottery idol from the Indus Valley culture and dates to circa 2500 BCE or earlier. This fantastic find is intact and shows no signs of repair or restoration but has a few chips, especially on the reverse where it appears as though there was originally some sort of suspension loop that is now missing. It weighs roughly 86 grams and measures 8.6 cm in height.

his fascinating figure dates to the Han Dynasty of ancient China (circa 200 BC). It is in remarkable condition considering its age. These have not been available for private purchase for quite some time. This piece of of very high quality showing no signs of repair or restoration and remnants of the original painted pigments. These figures were placed inside of tombs to provide symbolic presence for the afterlife. The arms were made of wood and the clothes would have been fashioned out of cloth ...click for details
