This wonderful bronze bell is from the Khmer culture of Southeast Asia (circa 12th century AD). Bells such as these were used in Buddhist rituals. This particular piece has has its handle reattached - hence the low price for this genuine antiquity. It measures 18 cm tall. The bell portion is 8.2 cm in diameter. There is no clapper.

Priceless Past

$695

This interesting little ceramic figure is purportedly from the Majapahit period (1293-1500)of Eastern Java. Possibly a religious figure, it is barefoot and has tribal head-dress and flowing robes. There does appear to be a light colored glaze underneath the surface dirt which I have not attempted to remove or clean. The statue is just under 20 cm in height and weighs 444 grams. This is a truly unique piece of ancient artwork, the likes of which we have not seen. Feel free to email with comments ...click for details

This marvelous piece of ancient pottery is an offering vessel, sometimes referred to as a "spirit jar", from roughly the Five Dynasties period (907-960 AD) of Classic Imperial China. These intriguing vessels first appeared to Western collectors around the turn of the century and were quite a delightful find. Appearing in the ruins of a long forgotten monastery near Kunming, hundreds of these jars were discovered in many sites in and around Yunnan. $1295

This particular piece is a very unique, stone prayer tablet. It is difficult to date but stylistically could be as early as the Five Dynasties period (907-960 AD). These tablets were often found in conjunction with the ceramic offering vessels from Yunnan. The tablets would accompany the offering vessels and would sometimes comprise an enclosure for the offering vessels. (See trocadero item number 797164 for an example of the offering vessel). This particular piece is quite large - roughly 16 in ...click for details

Priceless Past

$79

I have seen weapons such as this one described as everything from ancient Roman, Celtic and Chinese to medieval and on and on. Though I have been unable to find much in the way of references, I am fairly certain that this spear and others like it are ceremonial polearms from the Qing Dynasty. They are most likely 18th or 19th century. They have crudely decorated brass collars between the socket and blade. This one and the three others I have listed are in good condition with no signs of repair. ...click for details
