This rare, triangular blade ge appears to have been exposed to a process during manufacture that created a mottled appearance on the surface. This surface treatment is known to have been performed on pieces manufactured in southeast Asia during the Eastern Zhou period. Though its original lustre is long lost, evidence of its former beauty is still evident on portions of the blade.
The overall patina is a deep brown mixed with shades of green. There are some losses to the edges of the blade a ...click for details

This is a museum quality 'guo ji' or 'hook-bladed halberd' from the Warring States period of ancient China. Though somewhat simple in form, the precision and attention to detail apparent in this piece are exquisite. The small hook shown in the photograph was found with the main blade and would have been attached to the weapon shaft just beneath the main blade. I could try to describe this fantastic find in detail but will let the images speak for me. More are available on request ...click for details

This is an extremely rare, pottery ear-handled cup from the Silla period in ancient Korea. Korean antiquities are quite difficult to find in private collections and this cup is the first of its kind we have seen in private hands. It has some small chips to the rim but is in otherwise outstanding conniption with no signs of repair or restoration. It weighs 310 grams and is 9.2 cm across the mouth and right at 11 cm across the widest part of the body. Don't miss this opportunity to add a truly ...click for details

This is a copper alloy dagger or short sword. It has an interesting patina consisting primarily of light to medium green tones (likely malachite) mottled with red and reddish brown areas (likely copper oxides). There are areas where the deep brown, lightly corroded base metal is still visible and somewhat lustrous.
The entire hilt, including the crescent-shaped pommel, is bordered by a thick and even ridge which would have served to contain the grip scales made of bone, wood, or ivory. The sca ...click for details

This is a bronze sword from ancient China. It dates to the latter part of the Eastern Zhou dynasty (475-221 BC) which is called the Warring States period. This period in Chinese history was one of instability and conflict between many smaller kingdom-states.
Swords of this type are called “two-ring” swords because of the two prominent rings located on the hilt. The Chinese term for this weapon is “jian” which refers to a double-edged sword. This style of jian is generally attributed to either ...click for details
