This oil lamp was part of a lot of items from the ancient middle East. I am not familiar with oil lamps in general but I have seen similar examples attributed to 1st Millennium BC Iran. I thought at first this piece was pottery but closer examination shows that it appears to be carved from a dark, green or black stone. It is in the shape of a heart with a clenched fist on one end. This is perhaps the only ax of this type in private hands today. It is similar to smaller examples attributed by Moorey to the Amlash culture (circa 1200-1500 BC). The amazing thing about this piece is its size. It is nearly 30 cm in length and weighs 1733 grams. It is solid, stable, and intact with no signs of repair. If you collect ancient weapons you may never have another opportunity to own one like this. Additional photos or microphotos available on request.

It is cylindrical in shape but has 6 longitudinal ridges. On the inside of the ridges is a geometric decoration. Ancient bronze weapons are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
