Well, what a remarkable find! This English sterling silver hap pin is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1909, so Edwardian in period; the makers mark is rubbed and rather hard to read.
I was uncertain when I purchased this whether this was a bear or a cat; I think it does look like a bear jumping through a hoop.
The piece remains in excellent condition and measures 5 3/4" in length.

One of the smartest of it's type I have had for some time, this large desk-top magnifying glass comes with a really smart solid or sterling silver handle with a highly decorative continual acanthus leaf relief around the edge on both front and back.
The front is set with a glossy piece of tortoise shell with a silver pique fleur de lys inlaid to it.
The collar is where the English silver hallmark can be found for Sheffield 1914.
The magnifier is obviously new, making it a very usabl ...click for details

These wonderfully handsome crocodile clad hipflasks are usually teamed up with silver plated fittings, this one is married with the scarcer combination of English solid or sterling silver.
Both the removable drinking cup and top are clearly hallmarked with the British hallmark for Sheffield 1901, making this a true Edwardian example. The makers mark is also clear for the famous silversmith James Dixon and Sons. The top is the bayonet type, requiring a twist and lift to open; the inside is lin ...click for details
