Attributed to Michigan Chair Company is this oak arm chair. Arts and crafts era (c1910) mission oak nice cleaned original finish. Company used fine quarter sawn oak graining in face pieces, arms, styles etc. Notched top crest gives a bit of style with new leatherette seat cushion rich burgandy color. Measures approx 38 1/2" high on post with 4" wide arms.
This rocker was an experimental piece for a customer. We do antiques restoration and a good customer wanted an entire arts and crafts parlor set (sadly painted) restored in the stickley silver gray finish. So this generic mission oak rocker was saved from doom & border to become the first piece of silver grey oak we've ever done. Arts and crafts era writing desk, properly cleaned old finish which does have some minor blemishes. Unsigned but the work of Cortland mfg with their distinctive triangle/pointed through tenons. New leatherette writing surface. Desk has one drawer, through tenons & pinned construction throughout. 28" deep, 29" high and 45 1/2" wide quick photo done as very busy, better ones to come!
I was told this previously had a Wakefield Bros label underneath from former owner. The former owner also kept the cushion for another chair but I can tell you this is one comfy piece! Bar Harbor styling to large swoop of arm, natural with brown color added. Back is approx 3' tall, width of arm is 4", nice slant back for an extremely comfortable chair.
