The motif is decorated in hand enameled in two different varieties of white chrysanthemums and a gilded rim. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or restoration. There is one small chip to the corner of the lid as seen in the images. The motif is that of a polychrome pomegranate with a nut on top sitting in an ornate relief bamboo bowl with hand painted detailed insects going around the circumference of the bowl. Japanese hand painted Kutani in Satsuma style but in porcelain body pair of plates Meiji period (1868-1912). The scenes are of people in colorful and elaborate kimonos enjoying a beach resort with what appears to be Mt Fuji in the background. The scenes are exquisitely painted and has rich gilding applique making this indeed an outstanding pair for any fine porcelain collector. They are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. They are 7-1/4 inches in diameter.
