Oaxaca, Mexico Folkart Peacock Carving
This colorful peacock has been created by the Mixe artisan group, from the Mixe region of eastern Oaxaca state. They have been creating distinctive folkart for a quarter of a century. The body of the carving has a blue neck and a mottled feather design in a variety of colorful shades on the front and back, with its sides also painted various colors. The peacock's spread of tail feathers is comprised of multi-colored carved wooden stylized feathers individually inserted into the body. Approximate dimensions: 7" Long x 21" Wide x 15" High. Beautiful and collectable!
