| Fluid, swirling sterling silver pin with an amethyst center from Taxco maestro Rafael Salvador Melendez Adan. Rafael began his career with William Spratling at the Taller de Las Delicias in 1932. He started his own workshop in 1939. Judging from the marks, this piece likely dates between 1939 to 1942. ••• The engraved and cut-work pin is marked RM (small m inside large R) in an embossed circle, 980 Taxco. The bezel-set amethyst is about 10mm. The stone is encircled with fine rope braiding. ••• The pin measures 2 5/8” wide x 1 1/8” wide. Total weight: 20 grams. ••• CONDITION: Very good estate condition, with nice patina. Some tarnish (I have left it uncleaned), and scratches and scuffs typical of a piece of this age. | ||
