| Old Mexican sterling and stone necklace, probably from the 1930s or 1940s, judging from the style and markings. It’s composed of 23 softly rectangular links, held together by sealed loops. Each link is plain bezel-set with a dark green stone with hints of brown, possibly chalcedony (Mexican jadeite) or aventurine. One of the stones appears to have been replaced with a lighter, more polished stone that appears to be malachite. ••• The necklace measures 16¾” long x 3/8” wide. Wearable length: 16 5/8”. Total weight: 51 grams. ••• CONDITION: Good estate condition. There are some noticeable chatter marks on at least one of the stones (see pictures); in others, the markings and variations appears to be natural. Superficial scratches and scuffs as are to be expected of a piece more than 65 years old. | ||
