| Victorian era guard chain of genuine Whitby Jet faceted beads in a length you'll rarely find and circa 1880. These types of chains were designed to place around the neck to hold the muff by a ring when not in use. The beads are all identical in size and shape, that is as nearly as hand-faceting will allow. Each bead is knotted in between and there are two French Jet glass beads at the closure, placed for aesthetic purposes. 62" total length and approximate length of each bead is 1". Some enamel loss to the typical Victorian closure on this. The necklace could easily be wrapped 2-3 times for a dramatic effect or made into a few necklaces if you prefer. Excellent condition with very few edge nicks as you will sometimes find with faceted jet, none noticeable nor detracting. | |||||||
