An intact Pre-Columbian Maya polychrome bowl featuring three seated figures, circa 600 A.D. – 900 A.D. This example measures approximately 5 1/2” wide by about 4 1/4” tall and shows a scene of very finely-rendered seated figures, each holding cups and separated by large pottery vessels, in what is likely a ritual scene. Despite heavy weathering and wear overall this piece is intact, and the remaining painted scene is a very fine example of Maya painted art. ...click for details

A lidded Maya cache vessel from Pre-Columbian Guatemala, circa 600 A.D. – 900 A.D. This example measures approximately 6 ¾” tall by about 5” wide and features two sections: a lid with a human head for a finial and a base with three nubbin tripod feet. The human head may represent a deceased ancestor. This feature emerges from the lid of the vessel and is shows the person wearing a large beaded necklace, and large ear discs. It is in the form of an ovoid bottle, and features the head of a human or deity wearing a headdress as the neck/spout of the vessel. This olla form vessel features black-on-red resist pattern decoration in complex geometric patterns, which remain in exceptional condition. This example displays very well and remains in excellent condition.

A standing figure from the ancient Veracruz cultural region of Mexico, circa 600 A.D. – 900 A.D. This example measures just under 6” tall by about 4 ½” wide and depicts a standing figure with one arm at their thigh and one extended outward. They are shown wearing a large headdress, large ear spools, and a padded belt/loincloth. This type of padded belt is often associated with ballplayers.
