HECTOR AGUILAR Amethyst & 990 Sterling Necklace

Stunning, vintage handwrought amethyst and 990, almost pure sterling silver necklace designed and signed c.1940-45 by Taxco, Mexico artist Hector Aguilar(1905-86). Pendant measures 2 3/4" by 2 3/4". The heavy original hand forged chain and clasp measure 24 inches long. 87 grams, 3.1 oz. The pale color of the amethyst stone resembles rose quartz in some light. The necklace is in beautiful condition with a gorgeous patina. The 7/8" stone is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks or nicks. No dents or dings to the silver. This rare design is pictured in SILVER SEDUCTION THE ART OF MEXICAN MODERNIST ANTONIO PINEDA p.33.
