| Modernist sterling silver and gold vermeil necklace and earrings designed and signed circa 1950's by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling. Necklace measures 16 1/2" wearable length. The pair of pendants measure 2 1/2" X 2"L. Necklace weighs 73 grams. Screwback earrings measure 1 1/8"L X 1" and weigh 13 grams. Both necklace and earrings are in beautiful condition. Clasp is tight and secure. Spratling named this design "lenguas" or tongues of fire. Pictured on p. 93 of SILVER SEDUCTION THE ART OF MEXICAN MODERNIST ANTONIO PINEDA and in WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE P.246.
