Rural antique folk Buddha from Laos. This wooden Buddha was carved by a villager to make merit, then given to the village Buddhist temple to make merit. Originally it was covered in black lacquer, but later the monks covered it in gold paint. Today it survives with the gold partially gone and the old black lacquer showing again. Size: 7 1/2" tall, 2" wide, 1 1/2 deep.

Antique Thai primitive cart wheel is mounted on a cast iron stand, and can be taken off the mount without any damage to the antique. These wheels are made from a solid piece of wood and were used all over Burma, Thailand and Southeast Asia. Size: 26.25" high, 19.5" diam.

Beautiful Ornate Carved Burmese Cabinet. Massive carvings abound on this truly unique convex glass faced cabinet. It looks to be all original, except some of the hardware. The huge feet of the chest are deeply carved lions (Enlargement 5). The crown piece and base are made up of carved stunning leaf and flower designs (enlargement 3 and 5). The British influence is strong from the colonial times. Circa 1830 to 1900. Dimensions: 39" W, 27.5" D, 85" H.

Antique Burmese gong with display stand. This gong was acquired from a motion picture company where it was used as a movie prop in the feature film "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li". The star shape was etched in during the filming in 2008. Circa 19th century. Size: 10.5" diam gong. 16 3/4" height, 16" width, 5" depth (including stand).

Antique rustic wooden gate piece from Thailand. Not a fence post. This was the type of gate used 80 to many hundreds of years ago. Hand crafted by villagers for keeping their water buffalo of cattle in. Two of these large poles would be made with corresponding holes for smaller poles to be slid through to close of that section. Age is impossible to know. 80 to 200 years old is a reasonable estimate. Size: 52 1/4 inch tall.

Everything is strongly held together with a joint system and of course every part in handmade. This piece was purchased and believed made in Shaoxing, China. The deep rich carvings are wonderful are what you should expect this investor quality piece.
