Terra-cotta temple amulet with Lord Buddha depictions. These clay amulets (kruang rang or phra kruang) are commonly made and sold by the monks. This depiction is the Lompoon style, first introduced about a 1000 years ago, We mounted this one on an attractive black stand. Remnants of a red coloring, that once covered the amulet are still visible. Age not known, but believed to be over 50 years old. Purchased from a private party. Bronze U-Thong seated bhumisparsha Buddha from Thailand. This beautiful Buddha statue was made with the old lost wax method of casting. Circa 1920 - 1950. The Buddha in this rendition from Thailand is seated in the bhumisparsha mundra (position). Bhumisparsha literally translated means "Touching the earth", however this position or mundra is more commonly called "earth witness" position. Size: 14 1/2" height, 10" width, 4 1/2" depth.

Antique Asian rustic teak wood wheel. Before the roads were black top these solid hard wood wheels were used in, Thailand, Burma, China, Viet Nam and most of South-East Asia. Then teak wood wheels were handmade from a single log, with primitive tools. Today this richly textured item of necessity has become a beautiful accent piece for our modern home decor.
