Bronze U-Thong seated bhumisparsha Buddha from Thailand. This beautiful Buddha statue was made with the old lost wax method of casting. Circa 1920 - 1950. The Buddha in this rendition from Thailand is seated in the bhumisparsha mundra (position). Bhumisparsha literally translated means "Touching the earth", however this position or mundra is more commonly called "earth witness" position. Size: 14 1/2" height, 10" width, 4 1/2" depth.

Unearthed during an expansion, at a temple (wat) in Lampoon Thailand, were a number of these well preserved Buddhist temple amulets (kruang rang or phra kruang). Sold by the monks, we were fortunate enough to get a few. We mounted this one on an attractive black stand. Size: 6 1/4 inch tall, 3 1/2 inch wide (Including stand).
