| Gorgeous Taxco Mexican turquoise and 970 silver necklace and bracelet made by Jose Marmolejo, a Maestro in whose workshop Pedro Leites, of the Tane Silver Company, apprenticed. This set exemplifies the very best craftsmanship and design of vintage Mexican silver. Quite heavy, some of the sections are 1/4" thick in the middle. Both necklace and bracelet are signed with the Jose Marmolejo mark, 970, Taxco Mexico, and the Eagle mark with a 3 inside. Included in the set is a letter, dated 1977, from Plateria Virginia, of Taxco, about a repair to the bracelet in which a turquoise stone was replaced. There is also an extra stone apparently sent with the letter. When fastened, the bracelet measures 7" around the inside, approx. 3/4" width, and weighs 93 grams. The necklace is approx. 7/8" at the widest section, 16 1/2" around the inside, and weighs 159 grams. An amazing set that's been in my collection for many years, it's in excellent condition. More photos, including a picture of the letter and extra stone, available upon request. | |||||||||
