| Late 19th Century silk evening bag with a wonderful 800 silver handle and chain. Probably Italian, the motifs are Neptune, dolphins, and griffin-like sea monsters. The bag itself, possibly of later date than the handle, is a lovely deep green silk damask with flowers and butterflies on the outside, and an iridescent blue-purple with flowers inside. Part of the silver handle is hidden in the folds of the silk body of the purse. The purse measures approx. 10" at the widest part, 8" from the top of the clasp, and 1 1/2" deep. A gorgeous and very usable evening bag, it's in excellent condition. | ||||||||||
