This rare SHIEBLER STERLING SILVER ROUNDLET (traveling, travel) CORKSCREW features 2 applied birds and an owl as outside decoration. One end of the roundlet is marked with the Shiebler logo, STERLING, C. The original interior gilding is present and is also visible on the corkscrew threads. Pieces from this workshop are scarce and highly collectible, particularly larger pieces like this. The firm was in business for just a few years (about 10 years or less). This outstanding 19th Century sterling silver figural rattle features a very unhappy crying baby with 3 bells atop a mother of pearl handle. The baby's crying face is on both sides and is marked "STERLING" beneath the bib. Each of the bells is also marked "STERLING." Gorgeous Art Nouveau lady on the front of the tape measure and Art Nouveau flowers with undulating designs grace the back. She is in excellent condition with no dings or dents to her nose, checks, or chin. The tape is in fine working order.
