From the Arts & Crafts period, a letter opener with sterling silver overlay of a pine cone on bronze. This letter opener was most likely part of a desk set, where another of the pieces would have been signed. The work is that of a line called "Silver Crest" made by the Smith Metal Arts Company when many of the Heintz metal workers left the Heintz Art Metal Shop and founded the Smith Metal Arts Company in 1919.
