Two real iridescent green beetles on a gold filled pin and mount. The back of the pin is open so that you can see the bottoms of the beetles. The beetles are prong set and the original C-clasp is present. The work of Evald Nielsen (1879-1958) is as well known in Denmark as Georg Jensen. This magnificent brooch is by Nielsen, a prominent Danish silversmith whose work rivals Georg Jensen in beauty and craftsmanship. He is admired as one of the best Skonvirke designers and opened his own shop in 1907. This Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts (Skonvirke) pin has 2 silver buds that appear to be bursting forth from the flowers. These buds are characteristic of Nielsen's style.
