Designed by Rene Lalique, given to contributors as a token of appreciation for donations to the orphans of World War I in 1915-1916. Signed "R. LALIQUE" on the lower left side. The medal depicts a woman cradling two infants in her arms, offering protection to orphans suffering the ravages of the war. Measures 1 1/8" x 1 1/8" Made of brass and in excellent condition. |
