This lovely stem cup was made at the end of the Ming beginning of the Quing dynasty. Decorated with a Dragon in rich underglaze Blue. The cup is in very good condition. These cups would have been made for export to South East Asia and were sold at the Christies sale 'The Hatcher Cargo' March 1984. This vase is especially interesting because it was a personal gift from Captin Michael Hatcher to Dorrian Ball an associate and who raised the famous Diana Cargo. This really is a lovely piece. It is a rich honey coloured Mahogany with fan marquetry to the lid front and corners, there are two brass carrying handles at each end. The lid opens with a double fall front. The box is inlaid with deep red morocco leather with gilt tooling. The box unfolds to reveal a writing slope. This lovely jewellery box is modelled in the shape of a Sulcata Tortoise. This lid opens to reveal a compartment surrounded by marquetry, the lid bears the initials REJ. There is a lock but no key. The box is made of specimen hardwoods and the drawer opens to reveal ten shaped and lidded compartments. A real quirky piece. I have never seen one like it. This little pill box is painted in cobalt blue and depicts an aster flowerhead to the lid. The underside depicts aster petals. The detailing has been perfectly preserved as the glaze was applied after painting. These boxes are becoming scarce. A worthy addition to any fine collection of shipwreck Chinese porcelain. This rare bowl is in the "Chinese Imari pavilion" pattern, Originally painted in underglaze blue, iron red and gilding which only remains in ghostly form. Fortunately the blue remains in all its glory because it was under the glaze. The decorations depicts a pavilion and terrace bamboo fence, a low table festooned with flowers and draped with curtains. Size: 15cm approx. 6"inches in diameter
