This fine pair of pole screens have glazed tapestry panels, containing heraldic crests, one with the Latin Leoni Non Sagittis Fido ( I trust to the Lion not to the arrows) The coat of arms of the Egebton family. The other Vigilantia Fortior (Vigilance Stranger). One pole is slightly longer than the other and one frame is a little darker, nevertheless a lovely pair of screens that would grace any fine home. This nice piece was aquired by the husband of the lady from whom I purchased it. He was an army officer serving in Egypt. It is skillfully engraved with Islamic decoration I am not knowledgeable about Egyptian hallmarks but I know that the cat started in 1906 and was replaced by the Lotus flower in 1946, so one can assume it was made between these two dates, more likely towards the later. Thank you for looking, if you have any questions, Please do not hesitate to contact me.
