I really do love this most attractive cabinet. This beautiful cabinet has three long drawers with brass ring handles enclosed by two doors above a larger lower drawer, standing on ebonised turned, round feet. During Victorian times Corromandel was one of the most expensive woods and was the chosen veneer for vanity boxes, jewellery and dressing cases. It’s nice to find a slightly larger example where this luxurious wood can be shown off to greater advantage. Corromandel was so popu ...click for details

This is a very good, original example complete with matching tea caddies and cut glass mixing bowls. A perfectionist would probably say it needs a polish. Were I keeping it, I would give it a light wax and enjoy it as it is. There is a small bit of damage to the caddy lid (please see photographs). It is of Anthemion form on a bold barley twist stem and stands on three legs which are Regency in style. A lovely, decorative example of early Victorian workmanship. Height: 28” (71cm)
