This interesting mug is decorated with an under glaze blue tree peony growing from rock on a terrace. It has coloured enamels applied over the glaze.
The mugs were especially ordered by the VOC. (The Dutch East India Company). They are under glazed blue with enamels which have been eroded by the sea. The blue depicts a peony tree growing out of rocks on a terrace below a border of trellis. "Pattern".

In the 16th 17th and 18th Century sea salt was used, a flakey substance picked up by hand. When salt was refined this style of stand went out of fashion, consiquently making these quite rare.

Circular painted saucer dish depicting two garlands of fruiting pomegranates
around a central flower head, the underside with stylised plants.
This particular saucer dish is very rare as there were very little in the entire cargo!

Blue and white ‘bowl shaped jug’ painted with scholar on a rocky bank in a mountainous landscape with a bridge leading towards retreats and a two storey pavilion amongst trees, with a pagoda on the distant island below a border of trellis pattern. The handle with a formal flower spray at the right, angles to the spout.
