£385.00

This almost Naïve style scene oil on board was painted in the very early years of the 20th Century by William Plumstead who captured a number of old Norwich images. There is an old Norfolk wherry and houses on the riverbank, all now no more, the lovely cathedral and Norman castle still stand, hopefully forever. Plumsteads work reminds me of works by David Hodgson (1798-1864) whose paintings are far grander but done with the same passion and for for this wonderful city. In my opinion William P ...click for details

Size: 39cm by 58.5cm excluding frame

Two for the price of one is what you get with this double sided watercolour. The main picture depicts a costal scene with tall cliffs dominated by a church and figures waving to sailing boats at sea. The reverse depicts a mountainous rocky river landscape with figures and boats. In the absence of a signature one is compelled to attribute these to John Glover but after in-depth research I am of the opinion that they are infact by him. The attention to detail is quite striking. I really ...click for details
