| This Oil on Canvas depicts a lovely old Italian Piazza with a central fountain. Vibrant colours and Matchstick figures, Typically the style of this well known artist who was Italian by birth. In its original wood frame, signed upper left 'Salvagnini 67' on the reverse is a label 'Federation of British artists' price 12 Guineas and the artists stamp. In good original condition with no damage, just a bit dusty. A nice, bright well painted Italian scene which would bring to life any dark corner. Size: 61cm (24"inches) x 40.5cm (16"inches) Sergio Salvagnini Artist, Sculptor & Poet. Born and raised in Florence, Italy. He originally trained as a pastry chef before joining the Italian army at the outbreak of WW2. After the end of the war he returned from Scotland to Italy and resumed work as a pastry chef but later migrated to England in order to persue his dreams of painting and sculpting full time. He studied at St Martins school of Art, London 1954-1957 before moving to New York and the Bahamas to study and live in artists communities before settling back in London to study and live in the fasmous Soho artists community of the early 1960s. Sergio became a profilic exhibitor, exhibiting hundreds of works especially at the Royal Society of British arts, the Pastel society, The contemporary portrait society, the Royal watercolour society and the federation of British arts of which he became a member of all these societies. He also exhibited at many leading London galleries including Bankside Gallery. In more recent years Sergio became a very sought after art tutor, teaching some of todays leading artists. | ||||||||||||||
